Necklace - Single Neckpiece by Sandy Wrightson

‘Radiating curves’

The strong curved lines in these pieces echo a geometry I see and admire in nature. The reed-like leaf crowns of the Australian Grass Trees or the spark trails of chrysanthemum rockets; sets of radiating lines, each with a dense central point from where lines expand outward, filling space with long subtle curves and graceful arches. Sometimes adjacent sets share a common space and the end points of these lines interact. In this in-between space there is an intriguing mix of symmetry and asymmetry as some lines cross while others barely touch.
Using the aesthetics of these elegant, simple curves and interactions, these pieces are designed to trace and compliment the natural curves of the body.

Construction
Sterling silver or 9ct yellow gold contrasted with matt black rubber.
A hardened spring steel core provides the structure and mechanism.
Silver earrings have surgical steel ear-wires.

Care
Place neckpieces ‘around the neck’ (not over). The spring is robust and should maintain its shape but it can be tightened easily by grouping the wires in each hand and tightening the bend (avoiding introducing sharp bends).
