Andrew Donohoe - Printmaker

Andrew lives and works from his home in the picturesque Huon Valley, South Eastern Tasmania. He is a self taught artist, primarily a printmaker, working in relief and specialising in linocuts.

Much of his work is informed by the environment, particularly the iconic tall Eucalypt forests and contemporary conservation issues relating to the logging of forests in Tasmania. Historically having been a divisive issue in Tasmania, places such as the Florentine and Weld Valley have featured prominently in his work. The images created are in response to the iconic and majestic giant Eucalypts of the Tasmanian forests.

The silhouetted forms become imposing monoliths, moonlit, or against the dawn and dusk sky becoming pure forms of simplicity and beauty.

Andrew regularly exhibits in group shows in Tasmania and in other Australian states, and also has held solo exhibitions. In 2010/11 he worked in Buenos Aires, Argentina, completing residencies at Proyecto 'ace culminating in a solo exhibition, 'Sentir con los Ojos' in 2010. The residencies at Proyecto 'ace have facilitated the development of new work in the medium of 'waterless lithography'.

Andrew’s work is held in private collections in Australia and Internationally, he has held solo exhibitions in Spain, Argentina and Mexico and been included in group shows in Canada, Spain, France, England, Mexico and Argentina.
