Andrew Donohoe - Printmaker

Andrew is passionate about the processes associated with printmaking, particularly relief and especially linocuts. Generally his work relates to the natural environment and the forms, textures and symmetry found in nature.

He is a full time artist and is largely self taught.

The images created through the Weld Valley series are his response to his Tasmania home, and the magestic tall eucalypts of the forest landscape. The silbouetted shapes become imposing monoliths, lit against the dawn and dusk sky and become pure forms of simplicity and beauty.

This year, Andrew was awarded one of 3 acquisitive prizes of the Silk Cut Award for Linocut prints. The Silk Cut Award for Linocut Prints is one of the most important printmaking awards in Australia. The Award commenced in 1995 to encourage the making and appreciation of linocut prints.
