Sarah Bishop - jeweller

Sarah studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Diploma of Education at the University of Tasmania from 1990-1993 and went on to teach art and co-ordinate an art gallery.

Having worked in textiles and wearable art for a number of years Sarah has recently begun working with metals and found objects.

Sarah enjoys creating artworks that tell a story, whether it is reconstructed antique laces created into new textiles or jewellery pieces that invite the viewer to look closely and imagine some aspect of the past. She likes to use small treasures to add a sense of uniqueness or whimsy.

The Postcards from Paris series of pendants are handcrafted from steel wire, vintage optometrist test lenses, freshwater pearls and imagery from a collection of Parisian postcards circa 1905 that the artist has collected.
