Peter Tarvydas - woodwork

Peter started woodworking as part of a Government Rehabilition program in Newtown – Mental Health Workshop - part time for 4 -5 years. He realised he had a flair working with wood, and enjoyed the visual accuracy that results in beauty - an art in itself.

Peter could not imagine working with anything but Tasmanian timbers, and operates from his work shed in Glenorchy. He does not like being labelled a perfectionist. He emphasizes using strong joints, well seasoned timber, and enjoys the engineering side of woodworking; the hand-tools tools and blades maintained in the tyraditional manner. He acquires veneers from Tasmania's first timber mill in Smithton. He has been a member of the Hobart Woodcraft Guild since 2007.

Peter's boxes are sealed with 2 pack polyurethane and made in Tasmania.
