Born in Melbourne, Mandy Renard moved to Tasmania in 1999 to study Fine Arts at the University of Tasmania. Mandy majored in printmaking, minored in drawing and finished with a high distinction and a place in the Head of the Art School’s ‘Summer Selection’ show at the Plimsoll Gallery. Since this time less than three years ago Mandy has enjoyed 11 successful group and solo shows in Hobart and Melbourne, and continues to work from her studio at Neika.

Mandy’s works focus on themes of beauty, the sense of "home", and her love of the Tasmanian landscape. Her past works have used personification to transform Tasmanian iconic locations such as Mt Wellington, Cradle Mountain and Mount Field into intriguing Elizabethan or Dickensian characters. Her technique of placing the most important aspects of each landscape within each character’s garments has made Mandy’s work an immediate success. Her current works are based on themes of beauty, love and home. Mandy continues her exploration of the sense of place and beauty.
