Mandy Hunniford - painter

Mandy’s paintings are an ongoing investigation of the Tasmanian landscape. The work is a narrative of her personal and visual connection to this landscape. Taken from glimpsed vignettes and memories the landscape is used as a reference point for recurring themes in her work.
The paintings hint at familiarity and are condensed moments of time that trigger our memories of what we have seen in the landscape and symbolise certain places and times, past and present. They are also a declaration of site and season. The aim of her work is to present the notion of a connection between childhood and adulthood and the understanding that with these connections a sense of place equals a sense of self.
