Phoebe Middleton - Printmaker
Phoebe graduated in 1991 from Underdale, South Australian University where she completed a Bachelor of Design, majoring in illustration, printmaking and design.
A career in animation and concept design followed. Four years at Walt Disney Animation Studios contributed to her creative foundation before leaving to art direct and co- create a string of successful original animation concepts that collected awards for design in Australia, New Zealand, United States and Asia.
2008 saw Phoebe relocate to Hobart with a determination to focus again on the more tangible and enduring process of printmaking.
Bold graphic lines, patterns and strong character poses are dominant characteristics of Phoebe’s printmaking, reminiscent of her animation styling. Subjects are now frozen in climatic poses and the viewer is left to imagine the dynamic aftermath.
Momentum for Phoebe’s printmaking is growing with successful group shows in Tasmania and NSW.
