Belinda Winkler - furniture

A Ceramist, Sculptor and Furniture Designer/ Maker, Belinda Winkler completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts, receiving first class honours, in 2006 at the University of Tasmania and is currently working towards a Doctor of Philosophy in Fine Art. She works from her studio at the School of Art in Hunter Street, Hobart and has work in public and private collections nationally. Within her multidisciplinary artistic practice, Belinda works across a diverse range of mediums and scales, from porcelain through to fibreglass and steel and from intimate through to architectural scales. Her practice crosses the boundaries between art and design to produce sculptures, vessel forms, architectural installations and large-scale public art commissions. Belinda’s works explore relationships between forms, where curve almost meets curve, nearly, but not quite touching, creating a spatial tension, charged with anticipation. The implicit sensuality of the curves within Belinda's work along with the silky smooth surfaces draws one in and tempts touch.
