Blair Raymond Waterfield - Printmaker
Blair Waterfield was born in Sydney, before moving to the Central Coast of New South Wales, where he was awarded a scholarship to return to Sydney’s National Art School in 2001. It was here that Blair realised his passion in the Printmaking medium, graduating the summer school initiative with High Distinctions in his course work. In 2006, Blair commenced a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Newcastle, with interests in Printmaking, Painting and Digital Media.
Since moving to Tasmania in 2007, Blair has continued his studies at the University of Tasmania’s School of Art as a Printmaking Major, Graduating in 2008. His work is centralised around aspects of identity, ever questioning the validity of this social construct. Blair’s methods in his art making practice combine both traditional printmaking techniques, and explorations into new materials and media.
Blair is currently completing a Masters of Fine Art and Design at the University of Tasmania’s School of Art, and expects to graduate at the end of 2010.
