Based on a premise of the tree as an object of inspiration and resource, The Tree exhibition features artists who draw upon the environmental, practical, and intimate association of Tasmanian natural landscapes and the role of trees in their arts practice.

With some works depicting trees, other associations are made by the timber produced from the harvest of different species of trees and has been used to paint on, print on and frame certain works. Huon Pine, Sassafrass, Jarrah, Myrtle and Eucalyptus all feature in various works that are functional as well as aesthetically striking.
